February 2026 Newsletter
A Message from the President
Dear Chappelle Community,
As we begin another exciting year in Chappelle, I want to take a moment to talk about something that is at the heart of everything we do as a Community League — getting involved and building connections. Our community continues to grow, and with that growth comes an incredible opportunity to create a neighbourhood where people don't simply live beside one another, but actually know, support, and connect with one another. The Community League is one of the ways we can make that happen.
🙋 Our Community Needs You
One of our biggest priorities has been finding residents who want to contribute their time, skills, and ideas. We were looking for volunteers for Sports Director. Our Sports Director helps coordinate community sports programs and activities for residents of different ages.
⚽ Supporting Our Young Athletes
February also brought the opening of soccer registration. For the 2026 season, Chappelle players register through Blackmud Creek Community League, with registration open from February1 to February28.Sports are an important part of community building. They give children and families an opportunity to be active, develop friendships, learn teamwork, and create memories outside of school and home. We are excited to see our young residents participate and represent our community.
💙 Why Membership Matters
Another important part of building a strong Community League is membership. Membership isn't simply about having a card or being on a list. Membership is a way of supporting the community you live in. Through the Community League, residents can access and participate in:
Community events
Free outdoor skating
Recreation discounts
Local business discounts
Volunteer opportunities
Opportunities to connect with neighbours
Programs and activities that strengthen our neighbourhood
When more residents become members, we create a stronger foundation for community programming and future opportunities.
If you haven't joined or renewed your membership yet, I encourage you to consider doing so.
🐰 Looking Ahead — One of the events we were already looking forward to was our annual Easter Egg Hunt, scheduled for Saturday, April 4. This is one of our favourite family events because it brings together children, parents, grandparents, neighbours, and volunteers for a day filled with activities, prizes, and community spirit. They're opportunities for a child to meet another child from their neighbourhood. They're opportunities for parents to meet the people living on the next street. And they're opportunities for our community to create memories together.
🤝 An Invitation to Our Residents
If you have an idea for an event, program, activity, or community initiative, we want to hear from you. If you have a skill that you think could benefit the community, we'd love to know about it. If you have a few hours to volunteer, there is a place for you. And if you're simply looking for a way to become more connected with your neighbours, start by joining us at one of our upcoming events. A strong community doesn't happen because of one person or one Board. It happens because residents decide that their community is worth investing in.
Together, we're building a stronger Chappelle community.
With appreciation,
Nicole Semchuk, President, Chappelle Community League
